What’s your idea for a perfect Sunday?

My idea of a perfect Sunday would be one the involves a morning spent at a farmers market picking fresh items for brunch that morning, a magazine in a breakfast nook with my wife on a 74 degree day with a breeze in the shade. yeah that sounds nice.

Hope. It is, I feel, most often the only thing that keeps us all going. In one form or another, hope helps us have a goal and feel as though we can reach it no matter what. It lets us allow our loved ones to walk out the door and to the road, “hoping” they will be safe. Of course it could be argued that there is a fine line between acceptance and hope, but hope offer a little something more when times are tough. acceptance just lets us live without going nuts, but hope helps us hold and fight for something we know will be better…one day.

What do I want to be remembered for?

Well, if I want to be remembered at all, I think it would have to be “That I was a friend to everyone”. I suppose that comes off as selfish and it might be just a touch, but I truly want to help people, befriend people, just help. And if that is what I truly want to do then it stands to reason that that is what I’d want to be remembered for, right?

So that’s it, help others for humans-sake.

Learning to see…

One thing about being a photographer is learning how to see. I mean of course, learning to see the photo in any moment. The light, the composition, the subject itself, all working together to produce by ones hand an image to be proud of. Now I am still learning this, but the more I look around, the more I begin to understand what all these “experts” are talking about in their blog articles, magazines, etc. I think this also is the start of developing what some call a personal vision. A signature look to ones own work that sets it apart as their art and no one else’s. I’m not too sure about that last part, but I’ll use it for now. I am on the verge of something, and I think I’ll just have to follow this path to see just how far it will go.

Watching and reading this post is a great example of something that inspires me. I love my Holga(I’ve had three) and I have loved it for years… The look it produces is an inspiration onto itself for me. With my digital tools I try to recreate the look, but in such a way as to make a pictorialist proud. Watch this and read it, it’s worth your time.
